Stade Lausanne II in C league

A-Rod | 2010-06-28

STADE crowned champions of Première LeagueThe Stade second team took care of Solothurn in emphatic style last Saturday, June 26, winning 79-0. This victory sees Stade 2 promoted into National League C for the 10/11 season where they hope to continue their unbeaten run. The Stadists have completed a faultless year dominating all competition.

In stifling hot conditions and in front of a few die-hard supporters (thanks to those who came), the Stadists played their last game for the 09/10 season in Fribourg. The Stade second team had not lost a match in the entire season, scored more than 700 points and scored 4 or more tries in all but one of their games. Regardless of these impressive statistics Stade went into this game weary of Solothurn who were til then an unknown quantity.

Stadebgan a very structured game with good phase ball in the forwards and quick release to an inpressive back line. They were quickly rewarded for their discipline when the ball was swung wide to Jacky Dervey who easily beat his man on the outside to open the scoring. This set the tone of for the next 70mins - Stade dominated every aspect of the match both in offence and defence. Credit to the men from Lausanne for not losing their concentration or dropping the intensity the heat and an opposition who were not of the same colibre. Stade finished by running in 13 tries. No quarter was given to Solothurn who's only opportunity to score was a 25m penalty which was hooked left of the posts.  Solothurn did show exemplary sportsmanship in what was a hiding and we wish them all the best for next season.

A big thank you to ALL the players who contributed to the second team's success this season. A special thanks to Justin Carroll and Daniel Kaempf for organising and coaching the team.

We wish STADE 2 a successful 2010/2011 season in League C!
